ANSWERS:

1. (What are the station's hours of operation?)  The Electric Front runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 356 days a year.  We have daily programs every day of the week except Sunday.  Sunday is typically the day of the week that we program requests and update the station with a complete library of music for the next week. 2. (How do I listen to the station for the first time?First thing you must

do is visit www.live365.com. On the right side of the page, you should see two boxes that say "Username" and "Password".  Above this area is you will see the words "Log In" or "Sign Up".  You cannot log in if you haven't ever signed up for an account.

If you are a first time user click the "Sign Up" link.  You will be brought to a new page.  Answer the necessary fields correctly or this won't work for you.  Don't worry Live365 does not spam email accounts, so giving your email address will not result in junk mail.  If you don't give the correct email address however, you will not be able to receive the activation code to listen to the station.

You will then be taken to another page, it will tell you to check your email.  Do so now.  You will find an email at the address you specified when you signed up with the header "Welcome To Live365".  In this letter is a link just below where it says "To activate your account click this link".  Do this now.  If this does not open a browser window, merely go to the beginning of the link in the email, left click your mouse and drag it from the right side of the link  across it to the left.  Now the  entire link should be highlighted.  Now, without clicking, move your mouse overtop of the highlighted link and a hand icon should pop up.  Right click the link once and a drop down box should give you an option to "Copy".  Click copy.  This address is now on your clipboard.

Open your browser window (preferably explorer) and empty the address line at the top.  Now paste the address from the email by right clicking the address bar in the browser and selecting "paste" from the drop down box.  Now hit enter and the browser will go to the sign-in page.  In the password box type in the password you selected when you signed up.  Click remember me before you hit "Log In" so that you can listen without re-entering your name and password every time you want to use it.

Now you should have hit log in, and are sitting at the main page of Live365.  From here you should type "The Electric Front" in the main SEARCH box and click go.  This will take you to our listing.  Now click the title that says 99.9The Electric Front.  This will take you to our broadcast page on Live365.  Here you can see announcements and various bits of information including profile ratings and more.

On the left side of the page you will see a yellow circle with a speaker symbol in it.  This is the play button, click this.  If this is your first time tuning in this will begin a pop up window which will guide you through setting up a software player to listen with.  We would recommend installing and using the free Live365 player since it shows all the song titles and other information, as well as giving you the ability to click "buy" and automatically purchase the song you like from an online store.  If you have other software installed select it from the list.

After this setup you should be good to go, from now on when you select play it will play with the player you selected in setup.  If you want to change it later manually you may still do so. TOP

3. (How do I listen to the station regularly?)  If you have already signed up and clicked "remember me" when you logged in, you can listen by merely using our "PLAY BUTTON" on this site, or alternatively you can go to (and bookmark) this address "http://www.live365.com/stations/leereznor".  Live365 also has a small program called "Start365" which gives you desktop access to all your presets, and can be automatically set to launch your favorite station. TOP

4. (How do I change which player I use to listen?)  If you decide the current player you're listening to us with isn't good enough you can change it by simply going to www.live365.com and looking at the top right tab.  You will see the words "My Live 365 and Logout".  Click "My Live 365". the new page will say "My Live 365 Presets".  There is a row of tabs just below this, click the tab that reads "Listen Settings".  You will be taken to another page with a selection of players to choose from.  Make any changes you want and click "save settings" at the bottom of the page.  The next time you launch the station, it should play in the newly selected software. TOP

5. (How do I add this station to my presets?)  This is very simple.  You can either press the green button that is near the bottom of the live365 player, OR you can go to "http://www.live365.com/stations/leereznor" and click the green button from there.  To the right of the green button it should read "Add this station to my presets".  Now you should be able to select the station in your presets whenever you wish. TOP

6. (How and why should I make this station my favorite?)  To select our station as your favorite, simply click the top right tab where it says "My Live365" on a live365 page eg. www.live365.com and you will be taken to "My Live 365 Presets" page.  You will see a drop down box to the right of the words "Choose your favorite station".  You must have added The Electric Front as a preset first before you can select it from the dropdown box.  If you have you can merely click the dropdown box and select "99.9 The Electric Front" from there, and it will reload the page with our station as your favorite. TOP

The reason WHY you should select The Electric Front as your favorite station is to help us afford to be able to bring you the quality programming we do every day.  Currently the internet radio industry is backwards, and we actually have to PAY to play music for you, instead of being paid like it should be.  When you select us as your favorite station it lets Live365 know that our broadcast is valuable.  If you are a regular "free" listener it isn't worth any money as of right now, but it may in the future.  Even so it is important, because if legislation passes that is even more unfair, maybe your vote might be the difference in us being permitted to remain in existence rather than discarded like the rest.  TOP

If you are an ad-free subscribing listener, your vote is VERY important to us!  Everyone with a paying listener account that selects The Electric Front as their favorite station is worth 50 cents a month against what we shell out of our wallets to remain on the internet waves.  Outside of kind sponsors who send us cds, or bands themselves, we spend thousands of dollars on CDs monthly.  With your votes at least we can look forward to eventually not having to pay to bring you guys quality audio programming. TOP

7. (How do I make a request for a song?)  To make a request for a song, use our message boards and post your request under the appropriate request section (Topic).  Simply select "Requestline" from the main menu on our website and press make a song selection.  You will be automatically taken to the message boards. TOP

8. (Is the station free to listen to?)  Yes this station is free to listen to.  There are two separate streams of our station at all times though.  The free one is made free by our server selling advertising slots to paying corporations (much like FM/AM/TV).  There is a second stream that is 100% ad-free, to tune into that stream you must purchase a premium listener account on Live 365.  You can do so for merely a few bucks a month.  CLICK HERE to find out the details and benefits! TOP

9. (How do I leave a review on the station?)  This is simple.  In your Live365 Player, where it says rate this station select a rating from the drop down box.  Please only do this if you actually like the station. TOP

10. (Where is the schedule of this station's daily shows?) You can access our program schedule by clicking Program Schedule on the elft menu or by "http://www.live365.com/stations/leereznor" and clicking on the "Broadcast Schedule" tab

. Another way to see our schedule is to click Tune In from our menu, and select "EFR Program Schedule".  Or if you are still lost CLICK HERE.    TOP

11. (How can I avoid advertisements?)  There are two ways to avoid the live365 advertisements.  The best way to avoid any audio ads AND pop up ads is to purchase a premium listener account for a few dollars a month HERE.  This method will ensure you have no pop up ads or audio ads.

The second way to avoid ads is to use a 3rd party player such as Winamp or Real Player instead of the Live365 Player.  This method will get rid of all pop up window ads, however you will still hear the audio commericials.  One downside to this is that you cannot see all the individual track and album information, nor do you have an option to vote on the song or purchase it online automatically. TOP

12. (How can I get my band or favorite group played on the station?)  To get your favorite artist or group played on our station use the requestline in the message boards.  If you think we wouldn't have this particular song or band please use the "Submit Music" link from our menu.  There are further instructions on that page. TOP

13. (How do I contact the station?)  To contact us please use the "Contact" page from our menu.  There are options to contact us via ICQ messenger program, or email. TOP

14. (When I tune in, audio is choppy and there is silence in short segments, why?)  There are three major reasons how this symptom could come to be.  The first reason is that you are trying to listen to our broadcast with a 56k or slower internet connection.  What happens in this case is that too much information is being sent through a slow internet connection.  Once your computer has caught up and downloaded enough information to make the sound work, you have fallen behind on the rest of the music.

The second cause could be that your ISP or internet provider is experiencing temporary difficulties (or the lines at the phone company).  Most companies have these issues cleared up within half a day.

The third possible cause is that you are using Windows Media Player or another inefficient 3rd party player.  Windows Media player is known to have bugs with its buffering (which is the method players use to keep audio from skipping).

The final common possibility is that your computer is really slow, or you are running too many memory intensive programs at once, or you simply need to reboot your computer. TOP

15. (This station is supposed to be CD quality? How come it doesn't sound like that to me, and how do I fix this?)  The station IS broadcasting in CD quality if you use the free mp3pro plugin for Winamp 2.8 (or Winamp 2.higher) or a compatible mp3pro streaming player.  If you need help on how to set up Winamp with mp3pro capability, or need to find out where to get these free audio tools PLEASE CLICK HERE!  TOP

16.  (How come the music sounds like a CD but my player says the stream is only 64 KBPS 44KHZ?)  You are pretty slick catching that.  Here's the trick.  Normal mp3s reach cd quality starting at bitrates around 128 KBPS 44KHZ  and above, but this Mp3pro is new technology.  This is a new format that reaches the quality with half the KBPS (in layman's terms, files are 1/2 the size but sound the same if not better!).

Don't be fooled by playing mp3pro streams or files without the mp3pro plugin, it will be reading the files, thinking they are normal mp3s, and therefore sound less clear, and only about half the quality of a CD.  TOP

17.  (Sometimes some songs seem louder than other songs, is there anything I can do about it?)  Yes, some players will have an option for automatic volume leveling (or sometimes called normalization or limiting).  With Winamp there is a really cool plugin that you can use to do this automatically!  And once again this is free.  CLICK HERE to visit the website plug-in page automatically.(or visit www.sqrsoft.com.ar and search under the downloads/plugins for it) Once on the page download the SqrSoft Limiter.  Once downloaded, install the Winamp plugin. Usually it installs to the Winamp directory automatically.  If not, then make sure you browse and install to the plugins directory in your Winamp folder (usually C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins)

Once you have installed the plugin, open Winamp, and go to Winamp preferences (an easy way is to hit contol and the letter "P" at the same time.  Once you have it open, look on the left side of the window, and find where it says Plug-Ins, immediately under there it should say INPUT, OUTPUT, VISUALIZATION, DSP/EFFECT etc.  Select DSP/EFFECT.  On the right hand side of the window it should now have a list saying NONE and SqrSoft DSP.  Instead of  NONE being highlighted, simply click once on DSP/EFFECT to turn on the automatic volume levelling.  YOU NOW HAVE AUTOMATIC VOLUME LEVELS FOR ANYTHING WINAMP PLAYS, THE STATION OR MP3s etc!!!  You don't need to hit configure unless you know what you are doing).  To turn this off ever, simply repeat these steps, but highlight NONE instead of the plugin.  TOP

18.  Winamp won't play when I launch the stream.  The Playlist window says Play (x) or Play.PLS.  Can you fix this?  Yes this problem is easy to correct in most cases.  If you are using Winamp 2.8 or higher 2.x (and not Winamp 3) then here is the solution.  The problem is that Windows has so many temporary playlist files on your computer, that it's confusing Winamp into thinking that the music is actually coming from your computer and not the internet.

To fix this simply delete your temporary internet files from your computer.  You can simply find the directory and manually delete all the contents of that folder, or do the following.

To fix this using a Windows option, close all browser windows, (disconnect from the internet if you want, but not usually necessary) and simply click the START button on the taskbar and scroll to ALL PROGRAMS.  Inside programs scroll to ACCESSORIES.  Inside accessories scroll to SYSTEM TOOLS.  Inside system tools scroll to DISK CLEANUP.  Click DISK CLEANUP and when the box pops up select your main drive (eg. C: ).  Click OK.  The program will start calculating how much space it could save you on your computer.  Give it a few minutes.  Once the new box pops up you will see dialogue saying FILES TO DELETE.  The only thing you NEED to have checked is TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES, and TEMPORARY FILES (if you don't know what you're doing, make sure ONLY these 2 boxes are checked).  Click OK on the bottom of the window and let the program run.  Once this operation is done, you will have more free space on your hard drive, and you should be able to play the station in Winamp once again.

Follow these instructions whenever you have this problem.   TOP
